The solution of fuelsWood chips
Since 2012 we've been using a modern 100kw boiler powered by wood chips resulting from pruning in the vineyard. Replacing the previous 60kw boiler powered by diesel.
The heat produced by the wood chips is also used to bring the wine from 5°/6°C to 20°C to avoid increase in volume and the cork rising upwards in the bottling stage at low temperature.
The power produced by a liter of diesel fuel is equivalent to that produced of 2.5kg of wood chips.
With 40 hectares of vineyard, Cantina Ricchi meets its energy needs without using fossil fuels.

By using wood chips from pruning, we have added a 45kwp photovoltaic system to obtain more natural energy from the sun that warms the rolling morainic hills for 1300 hours per year.
Cantina Ricchi aims to become a company with zero environmental impact, in a short time.
To date the Co2 free bottles are 33.000 and correspond to the production of our precious Meridiano.
